Why doesn’t Liverpool receive the Premier League 24/25 trophy today? When will they receive it?
Despite securing their 20th title, Arne Slot’s Liverpool won’t lift the Premier League trophy after today’s win over Tottenham.

Liverpool have won a record-equalling English league title - but the Reds will have to wait another month before picking up the Premier League trophy.
Liverpool thrash Spurs to seal PL title
Needing just a point from today’s clash against Tottenham to win the domestic championship for the 20th time in their history, Liverpool thumped Ange Postecoglou’s team 5-1 at Anfield.
Spurs briefly threatened to poop Liverpool’s title party when the North Londoners took a surprise early lead. With 12 minutes on the clock, Dominic Solanke - a former Liverpool player - headed home from a corner.
However, the Merseysiders turned the scoreboard on its head inside a quarter of an hour, thanks to goals by Luis Díaz and Alexis Mac Allister.
Cody Gakpo then added a third before the break, before Mohamed Salah’s 28th goal of the Premier League season made it four just after the hour mark. Liverpool’s fifth arrived when Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie turned into his own net with 20 minutes remaining.

Why won’t Liverpool lift the PL trophy today?
Premier League tradition dictates that the winner of the league title be presented with the trophy after their final home game of the season.
The only exception to this is if the Premier League title goes down to the final matchday and the championship-winning team is playing away from home.
If the title is decided on the final day, the Premier League says, “plans are made for separate presentations of the trophy and medals at the stadiums where the teams can become champions”.
In addition to the Premier League trophy, the title winners are also presented with a total of 40 medals, which are made of silver and measure 2.25 inches in diameter.
According to the Premier League, these medals are to be handed out to “the manager, players and officials, as the club see fit”. Every player who has made at least five league appearances during the season must get one.
When will Liverpool be presented with the trophy?
Liverpool’s final home game of the 2024/25 Premier League season is on Sunday, May 25, 2025. Arne Slot’s men host Crystal Palace, in a matchday-38 clash that kicks off at 11:00 a.m. ET/8:00 a.m. PT.
This will be the first time that Liverpool have been able to lift the English league trophy in front of their fans since the 1989/90 season.
In 2019/20, the year the club won its 19th domestic title, covid-19 restrictions prevented the Premier League from holding a trophy presentation with supporters present.
