Saquon Barkley was a cornerstone of the Philadelphia Eagles throughout the 2024–25 NFL season – one that ended with a commanding 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.

In his first year with Philadelphia, Barkley led the league with 2,005 rushing yards in the regular season, averaging 5.8 yards per carry. He finished the campaign with 2,283 yards from scrimmage and 15 touchdowns. Though the Eagles didn’t dominate early on – despite kicking off with a 34-29 victory over the Green Bay Packers at São Paulo’s Arena Corinthians – they went on a tear, winning 12 of their last 13 regular season games to close out with a 14-3 record.

‘Eagles 2024 in top 5 of all-time’

The running back recently appeared on Exciting Mics, a podcast hosted by his teammates, defensive backs Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship. When asked about his view of the title-winning team, Barkley didn’t hold back.

“I firmly believe, when you look at our team that we had last year – and I know we’re not looking too far in the past – but our team last year, I think we’re one of the top five teams of all time,” he said.

Barkley didn’t hesitate to rank the 2024 Eagles among the NFL’s greatest ever. He pointed to the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins (14-0), the 1985 Chicago Bears, and the 2000 Baltimore Ravens as all-time greats. He also acknowledged the dynasties of the New England Patriots – with six Super Bowl titles – and the current Chiefs, who have won three championships with Patrick Mahomes under center.

Other standout players from this Eagles squad included quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was named Super Bowl MVP, wide receivers AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, and a defense anchored by Vic Fangio’s unit, featuring Jalen Carter, Zack Baun, Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell.
