Russell Wilson vs Jaxson Dart: Giants reveal 2025 starting quarterback
The New York Giants made two moves for quarterbacks this offseason: Russell Wilson in free agency and Jaxson Dart in the NFL Draft. Here is their 2025 plan.

The New York Giants have been trying to solve their quarterback woes since 2020 when they lost Eli Manning. It hasn’t worked out. They’d hoped Daniel Jones would be the guy to take over Manning’s legacy, but when that didn’t pan out, they finally let him go after last season.
Heading into the 2025 season, they acquired two veteran quarterbacks in Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, and then took Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart 25th overall in the NFL Draft.

The Giants’ plan for Wilson and Dart in 2025
After the Giants selected Dart in the draft, acquiring the additional first-round pick from the Houston Texans, it raised questions as to whether they planned to start him right away or use Wilson as the QB1 this season. They gave up two picks in this year’s draft and one in next year’s for Dart, after all.
Giants general manager Joe Schoen recently cleared up any doubts. Schoen confirmed that Dart would not start in the 2025 season, but rather would sit behind Wilson, who they project to be their QB1, and Winston, the QB2.
“Jaxson’s going to come in, he’s got to learn the offense. There’s a lot to learn,” Schoen said. “These NFL offenses are hard to grasp and pick up and then be able to go out and execute, so the ability for him to learn and sit behind two consummate pros already will be beneficial for him.”
