Davante Adams leaving Rams in awe with initial workouts in Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Rams let one legendary wide receiver go at the end of last season, but this season they have replaced Cooper Kupp with Davante Adams.

Update:

It’s been a rough last few years for one of the wide receivers who was considered one of the top pass catchers of this generation. Now with his third team in the last four years, Davante Adams is looking for a chance to get that elusive first Super Bowl.

Adams lands in LA

It’s been a bumpy road for Adams since leaving Green Bay in 2021. He and Aaron Rodgers formed one of the best QB/WR tandems in the league for seven years at Lambeau Stadium, but eventually Adams parted ways with the Pack, seeking greener pastures.

He landed in Las Vegas, and that went well for a little while, going for back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons, but the Raiders never even flirted with a Super Bowl run. His QB, Derek Carr, was forced out of town at the end of Adams’ second season with the Raiders and things fell apart from there.

He asked for a trade to be reunited with his former quarterback, and buddy Aaron Rodgers in New York. Things were already a little rocky with the Jets at MetLife Stadium before Adams got there, and while his presence brought a little more production to the offense that didn’t change much for the J-E-T-S JETS, JETS, JETS.

Adams still has “juice in the tank”

New York distanced themselves from Rodgers and Adams once the season was finished, and Adams was quickly courted by the LA Rams. The Rams could be a perfect for the 32 year old pass catcher. They have a veteran quarterback, a stud wide receiver that is going to get most of the attention and double teams, and they have a defense that should be ready for a break out season.

While the California kid is adjusting to his new life in LA, the Rams seem to be licking their lips at Adams elite route running and pass catching. “You know the guys that are just a little bit different when the ball’s in the air, and how they contort their body and just go up and get it like basketball players,” LaFleur said. “He’s north of 30, but the way he’s out there, it doesn’t look like it. He’s got a lot of juice in the tank, and it’s been fun to watch,” said LA offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur.

Last season Adams had a combined for 1,000 yards in his time between LV and NY, and caught 8 TDs. It was his fifth straight season with 1,000+ yards receiving and sixth overall. If the Rams are going to have success this year, they need someone to give Matt Stafford another passing option, someone to take the pressure of Puka Nucua in the secondary, and someone to make fans forget that the team cut ties with Cooper Kupp.
