Update:

You cannot talk about the 2025 NFL Draft without talking about Colorado Buffaloes dual threat Travis Hunter. With the first round of the draft coming up this Thursday, Hunter is expected to be one of the first players off the board.

Travis Hunter: Two positions, one phenomenon

Travis Hunter is one of the most unique and talented prospects the NFL has ever seen, standing out as a true two-way player who dominated at both wide receiver and cornerback during his college career. As a top recruit out of high school, Hunter shocked the football world by choosing Jackson State and coach Deion Sanders over powerhouse programs. He ended up following Sanders to Colorado after his first year. In 2024, he exploded on offense with 1,258 receiving yards, 15 touchdowns, and four interceptions while also posting four interceptions and 11 pass breakups on defense.

His historic 2024 season earned him the Heisman Trophy - only the second ever for a primarily defensive player - along with the Bednarik and Biletnikoff Awards, making him the first player to ever win both. Hunter has drawn comparisons to Sanders for his versatility and charisma, and he has expressed his strong desire to continue playing on both sides of the ball in the NFL. While there is skepticism about the feasibility of that role at the pro level, many, including draft analysts, view him as the most talented player in the 2025 class and a potential defensive star who could also make offensive cameos.

Hunter is likely to go second overall to the Cleveland Browns, as the first overall pick will probably be quarterback Cam Ward to the Tennessee Titans.

Travis Hunter height and weight

Standing at 6′0″ and weighing 180 pounds, Hunter pairs elite ball skills, instincts, and route recognition with explosive athleticism and a knack for making game-changing plays. His rare ability to excel on both offense and defense makes him a uniquely valuable and game-breaking talent at the next level.
