Eli Manning excited for nephew Arch’s season with Texas: “He’s earned the respect of his teammates, his coaches”
Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning has been tipped by some to become a starter this season, continuing his impressive rise in the game.

In all of sport there are few families that can compete with the Mannings, whose involvement in football now spans three generations.
First Archie Manning, an NFL quarterback who played professional for the New Orleans Saints, Houston Oilers and the Minnesota Vikings, winning two Pro Bowl selection. His sons Peyton and Eli Manning both won two Super Bowls during their own illustrious career.
Now the focus turns to Arch, the son of the third Manning brother Cooper. Arch Manning is a quarterback for the Texas Longhorns and after making his first start for the team in 2024 could now be pushing for a regular starting berth.
Speaking at a Madden 26 launch event on Friday, Eli Manning spoke in glowing terms about his nephew as Arch looks to stake his claim with the Longhorns.
“I think Arch has done a great job on just how he’s handled these first two years of his college career,” Eli said. “Taking advantage when he got the opportunity to play some, but learning, being patient, waiting, and now has a great opportunity to take over the team.
“He’s earned the respect of his teammates, his coaches, through his hard work, his dedication and and excited to watch him this year. It’s not going to be an easy task, you open up your kind of your college career at Ohio State, defending champs on the road, but it’ll be exciting and just happy for him, because I know how hard he’s worked.”
Arch Manning is the third generation in his family to play quarterback in the SEC and he is looking to be the fourth Manning to progress to the NFL in the coming year. For now, nailing down a regular spot in Texas will be the priority.
Speaking on Friday Eli Manning praised his nephew’s workrate and mentality, as well as one particular skill that sets him apart from his uncle.
“I mean, hey, he’s much faster,” Manning joked. “I remember my time, and it’s not much better than being in college, playing football with your best buds, learning each and every week something new about the game and the process.”
“And so, you see that hunger with him. He wants to get better, he wants to learn, he wants to ask. He asks me great questions, so excited to be there as part of his journey.”
