Knicks advance to Round 2 of NBA Playoffs
The No. 3 Knicks’ victory on Thursday night means they’ll face the No. 2 Boston Celtics in Round 2 of the NBA Playoffs.
Despite losing a double-digit lead in the game, the Knicks held on with a strong, late-game execution. The Pistons had a chance to send the game into overtime with seconds left, but a fumble by Malik Beasley ruined their chances.
Brunson was the leader for the Knicks, responsible for 40 of their 116 points. Mikal Bridges contributed 25 and OG Anunoby added 22 more.
The Pistons had a strong regular season turnaround and were able to end the league’s longest playoff losing streak, appearing in the postseason for the first time since 2019. Unfortunately, they couldn’t make it past the first round.
“We did so many things well and gave ourselves a chance,” Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. “They just made one more play than we did.”
