Update:

Unsurprisingly, Shaquille O’Neal’s NBA showreel makes impressive viewing - a compilation of explosive plays, heavy-duty blocks and dunks.

And if any proof was needed, the reasons why he was a four-time NBA champion, 15-time All-Star, MVP and enshrined into the NBA Hall of Fame in 2016.

Shaq commanded respect on-court, and off it. His thunderous slam dunks were a sight to behold, and that was a subject that cropped up on Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast.

Dudley takes a seat

It was the Chiefs TE who asked the question: “Have you got a favorite?

“There’s two of ‘em,” Shaq replied. “And I actually just seen this dude the other day, Chris Dudley” recalling the the 1997 playoff series between the Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers.

“Nice!”

“I took it as a sign of respect when you didn’t double me - ‘cause I didn’t even know who was on me, like, y’know, they’re switch and I’m like, I know this ain’t F***ing Chris Dudley. So I tell you one little dribble to double. He’s trying to... [makes revving sound],” O’Neill continued. ”I take one dribble and, ‘What the f***’ I take two dribble - I even carry on the second, and I was like, ‘Oh this motherf***er’s not coming?’ Now I gotta take that and then just drop step and them boom, and like he was all on me and I was like, f*** off of me! and I push him".

Kobe’s “pass” in the final minute of the fourth quarter

“And then my second favorite dunk was Game 7, Portland is kicking our ass. So we come to the time out in the fourth quarter and Phil Jackson - remember I told you he used to like play with your minds? ‘Alright guys, great year, they’re kicking your ass. I’ll see you next year’.

Kobe’s pissed he said it, I’m pissed he said it - I’m like, man, f*** that, let’s go on a little run. So we’re going on a run. Kobe’s in Kobe mode - he’s getting to the hole - two people, three people... he don’t care. He knows he has to score, and I’m telling him the whole time, ‘Hey man, the f***in’ lob is open’

“We made kinda eye contact - I don’t wanna say he winked at me, but he looked at me and he crosses Scottie [Pippen] up at the top of the key - he crossed Scottie up then he got in the middle lane and he threw the mothyerf***er up too high, and I had to go get it. ‘Brother throw it up, throw it up Kobe! Hahahaha!! Yeah, Kobe! Good pass! Yessir, that one right there!”

That unforgettable alley-oop made it 79-85 with 41 seconds on the clock. It ended 84-89 - the Lakers booked their place in the final where they beat the Pacers 4-2, Shaq picked up his first ring and was named MVP.
