NY guys
Talk all you want about the other guys, but this game is going to come down to the two stars for NY. It's KAT and Brunson with all the pressure on their shoulders coming into tonight. If they succeed the Knicks will succeed.
Knicks first five
Coach Tibs is goinig back to Mitchell Robinson in the starting five. He's joined by KAT, Anunoby, Bridges and Brunson to tip off Game 6 from Indy.
Pacers starters
This starting five has been the same for pretty much the entire season. Coach Carlise is going to do the best he can to put them in a position to succed and now he has this group knocking out the NBA Finals. It's Haliburton, Nembhard, Nesmith, Siakam and Turner
Thunder waiting
It’s been a while since we have seen them, so let me just remind you that the Oklahoma City Thunder have advanced to the NBA Finals and currently waiting a winner of this series. No matter if this series ends tonight or in Game 7, the first game of the NBA Finals will be played on June 5th. The Thunder will have had a few extra days to rest which could do them well, or could allow a little rust to set in. Either way, they will be paying attention to tonight’s game hoping that it stretches to a seventh game so either team reaches the Finals a bit more worn down than them.
Shaq and Chuck’s advice to KAT
After KAT’s big performance in a must win game, the TNT crew had a chance to sit down with one of the stars of the Knicks Game 5 win. Shaq and Charles are often critical of KAT’s decision to play a bit too far out on the perimeter, and they had a chance to tell them that to his face after the win. They also told him to stop committing silly fouls that put him and his team in difficult situations. He has been no stranger to foul trouble not just in this series, but throughout the series and if he can control that tonight, the Knicks will obviously have a much better chance to win the game.
The comeback kids
This has been a strange postseason. Road teams winning, 20 point leads being blown on a regular basis, and dramatic comebacks in the final few minutes of the game. The Knicks made a habit of coming back from 20 point deficits in the Celtics series, and did the same in Game 3 from Indy. The Pacers have had a handful on incredible late game runs to carry their side to victory when they looked like their back was against the ropes. They did the same thing in Game 1 from Madison Square Garden. This has been an unpredictable series, and you can bet that we are going to get more of the same during this Game 6 from Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Star watch: Pacers
Tyrese Haliburton may be the MVP of the playoffs. I know I said that last game and he had less than a stellar performances, but between SGA, Haliburton and maybe Brunson it’s a toss up on who the greatest player in the playoffs has been. Haliburton may not be posting the kind of scoring numbers that SGA or Brunson are, but that’s not really his game. He is more of a pass first guy who can light it up from downtown when he has the chance. He’s averaging 21 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists in this series and is posting 18.6, 5.6 rebounds and 9.5 assists a game during this playoff run. Those are great numbers, but the most incredible thing about his postseason is the way he has won games when it seemed like the Pacers were done and dusted late in the fourth quarter. He will be hoping to avoid a potential miracle comeback tonight, but if they are in that situation don’t count out Indy.
Star watch: Knicks
Mr. Clutch is going to have to be exactly that in this game from Indiana. Jalen Brunson has been spectacular all postseason and tonight can be no exception. He’s averaging 33 points a game in this series and is posting 30 ppg a game in the playoffs. This is a thin roster, and most of the burden is on the shoulders of the stars. Brunson would love to get the help he got in Game 5, but knows it’s going to be up to him to get himself going and the rest of the crew.
Last game recap
The Knicks came out in a must win game and had their best game of the postseason. They came out with a desperation they we hadn’t seen in this series and went wire to wire in front of their home fans. Jalen Brunson set the tone with 14 first quarter points, and then KAT started to heat up. Tyrese Haliburton was kept in check with just 8 points and 6 assists as the lead crept up to 22 in the third quarter. Brunson finished the game with 32 points and KAT had 24 and 13 rebounds as the Knicks eased to victory in their first of a potential three must win games.
We are live from Indy
Hello everyone and welcome to Gainbridge Fieldhouse where the Pacers are back home looking to take care of business tonight and avoid a Game 7 back in New York. They won both of the opening games in New York before losing a 20 point lead in Game 3. They rebounded with a home win in Game 4, but couldn’t close out the series in New York on Thursday night. The Knicks got a big game from their two stars to stay alive and tonight they are going to need Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns to carry the this series to a seventh and final game back in the Big Apple. Will we be heading back to NY or will this series end tonight? We have 48 minutes to find out.
