Update:

Christopher Kidney has been a keen thrift shopper for over two years and his diligence and dedication to the cause unearthed a baseball gem from the past decade recently.

Kidney entered the Goodwill store in Morehead at the end of January and came across the book The Pittsburgh Pirates.”

Inside that book, he found a signature from a Pirates icon.

“I open it up and it says ‘Best wishes Stan Rojek, Honus Wagner,’” Kidney recalled. “I mean, when every part in me was in shock. It was hard to breathe. I was like ‘Are you serious? Is this really what I found?’ It was scary, but exciting.”

Wagner played for the Pirates from 1900 to 1917. Before that, he spent three years with the Louisville Colonels. Nicknamed “The Flying Dutchman”, Wagner is considered one of the greatest shortstops of all time and his T206 baseball card is one of the rarest, most expensive and most sought-after in the hobby.
