Xbox prices are going up in the U.S. — Here’s what’s changing

Microsoft has officially raised prices on Xbox consoles, controllers, and accessories in the U.S., citing market conditions and rising development costs. The price hike affects Xbox Series X and Series S models, as well as wireless controllers and headsets. Additionally, first-party Xbox games will see a price increase later this year.
New Xbox console prices
As of May 1, 2025, the updated prices for Xbox consoles in the U.S. are:
- Xbox Series X → $599.99 (previously $499.99)
- Xbox Series X Digital → $549.99 (previously $449.99)
- Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Special Edition → $729.99 (previously $599.99)
- Xbox Series S 512GB → $379.99 (previously $299.99)
- Xbox Series S 1TB → $429.99 (previously $349.99)
Accessories are also getting more expensive
Microsoft has also increased prices for Xbox controllers and headsets:
- Xbox Wireless Controller (Core) → $64.99
- Xbox Wireless Controller (Color) → $69.99
- Xbox Wireless Controller - Special Edition → $79.99
- Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 (Core) → $149.99 (previously $139.99)
- Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 (Full) → $199.99 (previously $179.99)
- Xbox Stereo Headset → $64.99
- Xbox Wireless Headset → $119.99 (previously $109.99)

Game prices are increasing later this year
While existing Xbox games remain at their current prices, Microsoft has confirmed that new first-party titles will cost $79.99 starting this holiday season. This includes upcoming releases like Call of Duty, Fable, Perfect Dark, and Gears of War: E-Day.
Why is Xbox raising prices?
Microsoft stated that the price increases were made “with careful consideration given market conditions and the rising cost of development.” The company emphasized its commitment to offering more ways to play across different screens while ensuring value for Xbox players.
