Konami brought pure talent for the return of one of its great sagas.
“Search for beauty in horror”, this is how Silent Hill f is defined in the words of its producer Motoi Okamoto. The first installment set in Japan of the legendary saga, and aims to show everything that makes Japanese horror unique. The one chosen by Konami to carry this out is Ryukishi07, a cult figure in the video game industry with several titles behind him, and who is facing his great opportunity to become a giant in the medium.
The video game world is celebrating the moment that a company as legendary as Konami is going through, returning to pay the attention that several of its most legendary sagas deserve, and preparing for a Silent Hill f that aims to be one of the most terrifying and special in its long history. To do so, they don’t want to leave any loose ends, and the perfect man to make us tremble is Ryukishi07, but who exactly is the scriptwriter of the new Silent Hill?
A cult career in the video game industry
Born in Chiba prefecture in 1973, Ryukishi07, whose real name is unknown, is a pseudonym that has to do with the character of Reina (also known as Lenna Charlotte Tycoon) from Final Fantasy V and the dragoon or dragon knight class, using the term Ryukishi to refer to the latter, and the 07 which, in Japanese can be pronounced reinana (れいなな), in homage to the aforementioned character.
A civil servant until the age of 30, a working period in which Ryukishi07 was part of various amateur groups, self-publishing works independently within the doujin world. After that, he formed his own in 2001 with his two brothers, called 07th Expansion, under which he has created several visual novels that, thanks to their quality, caught the attention of a giant like Konami to give him the opportunity to work on the script of Silent Hill f.
Ryukishi07 is especially recognized for his work on the When They Cry saga of visual novels, which includes the games Higurashi When They Cry, Umineko When They Cry and the most recent Ciconia When They Cry. A franchise that started in 2002 and continues to this day, references in the world of visual novels, which have had anime adaptations.
