While receiving an AFI Lifetime Achievement Award, Francis Ford Coppola witnessed Steven Spielberg showering his masterpiece with praise.

The American filmmaker turned 86 in early April and recently attended the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to receive a prestigious honor: the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award. And guess who was there? None other than Steven Spielberg, who named one of Coppola’s works as the greatest American film in history.

Spielberg also offered heartfelt words for Coppola, calling him “one of a kind” and highlighting his greatest contribution: “You redefined the canon of American cinema and inspired an entire generation of storytellers.”
