Be prepared: GTA 6 will keep its Fall 2025 release window, Take-Two insists

Vice City, see you later this year.

GTA VI

It’s a celebratory moment for Grand Theft Auto fans, and one the industry has been waiting for. Take-Two confirmed this afternoon that GTA 6 will remain on its Fall 2025 release window. The information was released in the company’s most recent fiscal third-quarter report, which ended on December 31, 2024. In its report, GTA 6 maintains its previously announced release window and will arrive for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. Nothing new, but no changes.

A confirmed date, but with “risk of slippage”

In an interview with IGN, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that the game is still on track and that they are confident of its arrival, although they know there are risks. “Look, there’s always a risk of slippage, and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things,” Zelnick responded. “So we feel really good about it.”

“Look, I think the game is eagerly anticipated both internally and externally,” he said. “We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I’m fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we’re all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited.

Until now, there have been rumors of an imminent delay of the game, which would not be surprising given the company’s track record with Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2. While Take-Two isn’t giving any assurances that Rockstar won’t make any last-minute changes, the confidence is a good sign.

For now, and in the hope that no one “jinx things”, we can only wait for the arrival of the second trailer for GTA 6, when there is still more than a year to go before the release of the first. If nothing changes, we will be in the final stretch of a nearly 11-year wait.
