Update:

Will Pope Leo XIV’s car have black smoke, white smoke, or no smoke at all? While he’s not allowed to cruise around the estate with the windows open and Nas’ Illmatic playing from the speakers, the Pope’s company car is an all-important symbol of which way his papacy is going to go.

For example, the late Pope Francis’ garage was an eclectic bunch that included a white Renault 4 GTL, which he used for personal journeys and was said to be similar to one he owned in his native Argentina.

As well as that, he had a Ford Focus in dark blue that allowed him to slip in and out of Rome’s sidestreets completely unnoticed. Curiously, and contrary to his simple lifestyle, Francis actually owned a 201.9 mph, 5.2L V10 Lamborghini Huracan that had more than 600bhp could do 0-60 in less than 3 seconds.

The Pontiff, after being presented his shiny gift by the Italians, simply signed the bonnet before putting it up for auction, with more than half a million dollars worth of earnings going to charity. Francis, it seems, was not a speed freak.

The Argentine was also said to own a Fiat 500L and a Dacia Duster, as well as the first-ever electric Popemobile, made by Mercedes-Benz, which has now been turned into a mobile hospital and sent to Gaza.

Before him, Pope John Paul II was driven around Ireland in a van, and chose a Toyota Land Cruiser as the first ever Popemobile. He was also taken to the Ferrari factory in a Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet that sold later for more than $1 million.

So now our attention turns to Leo. What’s going to be his daily whip? If it’s an American car, expect a Hummer or perhaps even an FBI-themed Chevrolet Suburban. If he does go all-out USA, I for one want him to drive a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
