Costco’s new food court item is blowing up online — and it’s a beloved Italian classic

For many Costco shoppers, a trip to the famous food court is a big part of the experience at the big-box wholesale retailer.

The cheap hot dog meal and the creamy chicken bake have long been fan favorites and they are often much-needed after a grueling trek through the enormous stores. But Costco is always adding new items to the meal at its 905 global stores and the latest addition is proving very popular.

Food Republic reports that a new meal item - the Combo Calzone - has recently been added to the in-store offering. It’s already getting a big reception online.

One fan on Instagram wrote: “This brand new food court find features pepperoni, sausage, cheese, onions, peppers, olives, and mushrooms...it’s definitely giving combo pizza vibes!”

It sounds very tempting, but for now it’s not available at all locations. A Reddit thread on the subject confirmed that it has appeared at the Costco in Lansing, MIchigan. A Costco food court employee in the state confirmed that the Combo Calzone is currently available across the Midwest.

Further afield, Costco locations in New York and California have not yet branched out into the Combo Calzone meal option.

The new addition has been popular so far but some have taken it as a sign that the much-loved, now-departed, ‘Combo Pizza’ may never return. Costco shoppers online have been calling for the iconic menu item to be reinstated in its previous form but it looks like the calzone version is the closest that they’re going to get.
