The nominees for this year’s Country Music Awards were revealed by the Academy of Country Music (ACM) back on March 27 and this week, it was announced that Keith Urban will receive a special award.

Urban, who is married to actress Nicole Kidman, will be presented with the prestigious ACM Triple Crown Award, which is given to artists who win an award in three categories: Best New Artist, Top Vocalist (male, female, duo or group) and Entertainer of the Year.

The most coveted award in Country music

The ACM Triple Crown Award is rarely given out as few performers meet the criteria. It was first presented in 2005 - Merle Haggard was the first to qualify in 1970 and managed to collect the trophy at the 40th ACMs, 11 years before his death.

The Chicks are also due to receive the award at a future ceremony.

Urban, who has won 15 ACM awards and racked up 41 nominations, will be honored by his peers at this year’s gala with Chris Stapleton, Megan Moroney, and Brothers Osborne taking to the stage to perform his songs on the night.

When is the 2025 ACM Awards?

The 60th Academy of Country Music Awards will take place at at the Ford Center at the Star, in Frisco, Texas on Thursday 8 May 2025 with the event getting underway at 8 p.m. EDT / 5 p.m. PDT / 7 p.m. CDT.

The ceremony will be hosted for the 18th time and second year running by Reba McEntire and will be broadcast live by Prime Video Live.
