Update:

Country icons Brooks & Dunn, the best-selling duo of all time, are just over halfway through their 2025 Neon Moon tour but disaster almost struck at a recent show.

Brooks & Dunn frontman unable to complete Indianapolis show

Fans were concerned when Ronnie Dunn walked off stage during the first encore at Gainsbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis last Thursday. The 71-year-old singer took to the mic to sing the band’s iconic 1992 hit, Boot Scootin’ Boogie but had to quit the stage.

Dunn struggled to hit the high notes and seemed out of breath throughout the night. He made it through the first verse before telling the crowd: “Sing it if you know it”. In a video uploaded on TikTok, the singer was seen to shake his head his another member of the band to signal that he couldn’t carry on before heading straight to the backstage area.

The band finished the song and performed another encore, Kix Brooks taking the lead for the final song of the night, Only in America.

Ronnie Dunn ill with Covid

Dunn’s abrupt exit went viral on social media but it appears that he has been battling illness and under the weather for a few days. One poster shed light on his health issues, commenting that Dunn had complained of being ill a couple of weeks earlier: “When they were in Houston he said he was getting over Covid and strept [SIC] throat. He needs to rest and recover”.

Brooks & Dunn have three dates left on the tour and are next on stage at the Wells Fargo Arena in Iowa on the 25th, by which time, Ronnie should have fully recovered.
